Keynote speaker Ed Balls
Ed Balls, economist and former Labour Shadow Chancellor, will open our event with a fireside chat hosted by Ed Reed, editor of E-FWD. We'll also hear from Daniel Johnson MSP and The Rt Hon Stephen Flynn, MP for Aberdeen South.
Workshop 1
De-risking innovation
What is the best way to help companies evolve? Innovators face challenges with new technologies, while traditional producers struggle to win support for hydrocarbon plans.
We'll explore the ‘valley of death’ for small companies, the limitations of private risk capital and where funding is available. This workshop is available for Accelerate members only.
Moderated by: Scottish Enterprise
Suzanne Sosna, Director of Energy Transition
Michelle Howell, Head of Investment Management at Growth Investments

workshop 2
Industrial policy
and government support
The scale of the energy transition challenge means the UK must make a success of big infrastructure projects. Public and private investment need to work together. We'll examine novel government funding approaches to leveraging large capital pools into big ticket energy infrastructure. For example, will the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model work for newbuild nuclear and transmission projects?
Moderated by: Scottish National Investment Bank
Jimmy Williamson, Executive Director, Net Zero
WORKSHOP 3
Attracting private capital
into UK energy
Is there still a need for public markets to deliver energy investments? The short-term nature of investor sentiment presents a significant challenge. Companies need funds to carry out activities, but perhaps the future lies with private markets rather than public.
